About the Course
P.S.A. is a full time performing arts studio training Australia’s performers for tomorrow.  In 2008 we started the Elite training squad for young dancers aged 12-17 years who are driven to achieve that something special out of their dancing.  In 2009, the Junior Elite Course will be commencing for ages 8-12 years and the Elite in Training Course, which is a stepping stone to the Senior Elite Squad.

The Elite squad is a part time training schedule specifically put together for young performing arts students who have dreams of developing their talent to one day work in the industry. This course acts as a bridge to full time performing arts training.
The course is designed to create a fully rounded performer and covers all bases needed in today’s industry from every dance style to vocal coaching and acrobatics.  With an emphasis on positive reinforcement and encouragement we aim to build a dancer’s confidence as well as style and technique.

There are also opportunities for the squad to attend auditions and perform through associations with the school’s agency.  They will also compete in Eisteddfods as a troupe and as soloists with the best teachers offering their expertise and choreography to complement each dancer’s own facility and style.  Whilst we encourage the dancers to compete in Eisteddfods, this is not the main focus of the year, training and adapting to many different teachers and styles in all classes is emphasised.
The school’s directors will guide and show the parents and dancers how to achieve their dreams in a professional and educational environment that will cater to their needs.

Classes
Classes are split into 3 days;
Monday, Wednesday and Saturday with every other day off during the week so that we can avoid over training and burnout.  Several different teachers cover 8 different classes, styles and techniques.
Wednesday’s jazz class is a progressions class as done in the U.S.A.  This class devotes the entire time to working a particular skill and works in a 3 week rotation.  Week 1 turns class, week 2 jumps class and week 3 stretch and kicks.  All other classes work on their own syllabus and style. A 90% attendance rate is mandatory.

Teaching Staff
The artistic director Todd Patrick will teach jazz class to the dancers every Wednesday & Saturday.  With a wealth of knowledge from an extremely successful career in Australia, Europe and Asia, he provides a verbal and physical education straight from the industry.  He also takes the Boys class on Monday nights to strengthen and develop a masculine style that is a structured technical class just for boys. Amanda Stone is the Director of the Elite Squad and Junior School.  She brings a wealth of knowledge in not only teaching children but in children’s entertainment choreographing shows for Walt Disney, Warner Bros, Sesame Street & Nickelodeon just to name a few.  Amanda will teach the Elite Squad Musical Theatre and Jazz.
